RAW After Mania
What Did The Rock Give Cody Rhodes?
The biggest takeaway from the segment, however, was Rock awkwardly handing Rhodes something when he shook his hand. Rock informed the new Undisputed Champion that he wouldn't even need to look in his hand to know what it was, but the item was hidden from the fans and cameras. One fan theory posted on Reddit may well be onto something though.
The post, which you can check out in full below, suggests the gift Rock covertly handed Rhodes was a bead from Roman Reigns' Ula Fala necklace, and they have four reasons why they think that's what it was. First, the reason Rock mentioned knowing what it is without looking is because of its unique shape. Second, Rock told Rhodes not to break his heart again, implying that whatever it is in their hands, it hurt Rock to hand it over.
A Bead From Roman's Necklace
The third point might be the most significant of all. That since Rhodes beat Reigns, he is technically The Tribal Chief now, at least in The Rock's eyes, and the bead signifies that. The final point was the mood surrounding the segment. A far more somber, level-headed Rock, giving Rhodes something that shows his respect, and admitting he underestimated him. That mood goes against an alternative theory that the gift was a lighter, given by The Rock to poke fun after Rhodes' tour bus caught fire last week.
One thing the segment did appear to tease is a match between Rhodes and Rock sometime in the future. It won't be anytime soon with Rock going away for a while, and it might not even be at SummerSlam depending on how long Rock is away. Early reports suggest Rock versus Rhodes will be saved for WrestleMania 41, although even if that match is already penciled in, a lot can change over the course of a year. The build to WrestleMania 40 has shown that more than ever before.
